Tafsir (Interpretation) of Surah Al-Humazah

Verse 1: Condemnation of Backbiting and Slander

The first verse of Surah Humazah condemns the actions of those who engage in backbiting (humazah) and slander (lumazah). These terms refer to people who harm others through their words, often behind their backs, and those who publicly mock or belittle others. This verse highlights the destructive nature of such behavior and its severe spiritual consequences.

Verse 2: The Greed for Wealth and Its Consequences

In the second verse, Allah criticizes those who are obsessed with accumulating wealth, often at the expense of their moral and ethical obligations. The verse points out the futility of this pursuit, as wealth cannot provide the security or immortality that people often seek through it.

Verse 3: Warning Against the Illusion of Immortality
