Dua e Qunoot (دعائے قنوت), known as the prayer dua, is said while one is standing. The Sunnah states that only at the Witr (Arabic: وتر) prayer and the five daily prayers is Dua e Qunoot offered. In our daily prayers, we recite Dua e Qunoot in extraordinary circumstances. Reciting it should be done by any Muslim who feels threatened. A common prayer said during the Witr prayer, particularly in the latter stages of the night prayer, is the Dua Qunoot. The transliteration and translation of Dua Qunoot are as follows:

Arabic:

اللّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْتَعِينُكَ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَنُؤْمِنُ بِكَ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ وَنُثْنِئُ عَلَيْكَ الْخَيْرَ وَنَشْكُرُكَ وَلَا نَكْفُرُكَ وَنَخْلَعُ وَنَتْرُكُ مَن يَّفْجُرُكَ اللّهُمَّ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَلَكَ نُصَلِّي وَنَسْجُدُ وَإِلَيْكَ نَسْعَى وَنَحْفِدُ نَرْجُو رَحْمَتَكَ وَنَخْشَى عَذَابَكَ إِنَّ عَذَابَكَ بِالْكُفَّارِ مُلْحَقٌ

Translation:

“O Allah, we seek Your help and ask for Your forgiveness, and we believe in You and have trust in You, and we praise You in the best way and we thank You, and we are not ungrateful to You, and we forsake and turn away from the one who disobeys You. O Allah, You alone we worship, and to You, we pray and prostrate, and towards You, we hasten and You have rightly guided us. We hope for Your mercy and fear Your punishment, for the punishment of the disbelievers is a permanent punishment.”

Seeking Allah’s Assistance:
